AAM Short Tails Exhaust Question
Hello,
So I have the typhoon intakes, upper intake manifold Berk HFC, and as of yesterday the AAM Short Tails. So anyone who has these Short tails knows there is a large drone from 3-4k RPM. And what I'd like someone who understands it better to explain to me is how does the drone occur? Like is the sound echoing through the pipes and resonating at some frequency that magnifies it? or what happens? TLDR; why is it that I get loud noises from 1-2k, quiet from 2-3k, loud from 3-4k, and then back to quiet (relatively) all the way to redline? Like what is the process that causes this fluctuation? Thanks, KBC749

Resonance and fundamental frequencies. The tube length is fixed but the frequency of pulses, air velocities, and pressure all vary so you get many different resonances and volumes.

I bought resonated AAM short tails.. very worth it, no annoying sounds with a perfect roar.

Haha I actually contacted AAM to ask for them before they put them on the website. They just added the Resonated short tails on the website a few weeks ago but I've had mine on my car for at least a month now and I LOVE them. Sound is perfect. Now I have never heard the non resonated tails in person so I'm at a disadvantage. But I'm Also buying the motordyne ART test pipes today.
