Normal Exhaust VS Nismo Exhaust (Sound)
Hey Guys, I did search the forum but could not find a real answer to my question.
How significant is the exhaust sound between normal non-nismo and the Nismo exhaust for our cars? Is it louder than stock? Similar to the FI one? Elaborate. Thanks in advance. |

Too quiet IMO.

No difference imo. But on the same hand, most of my friends keep yelling at me since I'm deaf and I'm always replying to them "say whaaaaaatttt".

I have a 2011 base + sport, and I installed the OEM nismo (not the S-tune) cat back. I have also gone back and driven some other bases with the base exhaust.
The Nismo is slightly louder and lower pitched. It is more throaty above 4k rpm. It does not drone or buzz and fitment is 100%. The tips also look slightly larger. It is not screaming loud, so if you want to get lots of attention look somewhere else. If you want something that sounds very good for an OEM exhaust it's a good bet. It's also cheap second hand. I can still easily talk in my car at highway speed or at the track. The one downside is that it is not loud enough for me to hear the engine when trying to heal-toe at the track, but that's what S mode is for right.

I'm a big fan of the nismo. Paired with hfc it's just right in my opinion. Deep and aggressive but not overdone.

OP, ask Spooler on his combination for exhaust. To me he has just the perfect combination. Is not too loud nor too quiet, is just where it should be.

ReadT is spot on with his advice. The Nismo is just a tad bit louder then stock but really not much of a difference. Are you thinking about buying a Nismo exhaust or are you just wondering? If you are looking for a new exhaust I would highly recommended finding someone that lives near you and listing to the exhaust in person. I had the Nismo exhaust that came stock on my Nismo. Even after putting on HFC I was not overally happy with the sound, I wanted something that was a bit louder. In the end I went with a berk exhaust and I loved it. Though there are a ton of people that have a Nismo exhaust and are totally happy with it. If you are going for something that will be loud all the time then you will want to look else where. If you want something that when you drive and you can hear your self think with a slightly better sound then stock then this might be what your looking for. Again it is about what kind of sound that your looking for.

PM me if interested in a nismo exhaust, OP. It wasn't loud enough for me, but I did notice that the back pressure it creates gave me a more tourquey feel in the lower RPM range.

The oem nismo exhaust is slightly louder and definitely deeper than the non nismo exhaust. From the cabin, you might not realize the differences from the 2. But from the outside, you could clearly hear the differences. The nismo exhaust sounds like an aftermarket exhaust.
Having said that, the nismo exhaust is nowhere close to the Fast Intentions exhaust. FI is much louder and deeper.

Has anyone ever tried pairing the Berk BT1407 test pipes (no cats - non-resonated) with the Nismo exhaust?? I just picked up a new/leftover 13 Nismo and would like a little more sound.
