Which stage of twin-turbo/twin-supercharger kit should I get?
Hi,
I recently purchased a 2014 Nissan 370z w/ Sport package and I must say, I love it and wish to modify it by installing a forced induction mechanism. My budget is $20-25k so I am planning on rebuilding the engine first. Then I plan on installing a forced induction system, but I currently have an issue: I wish for it to be street-drive-able (I need to commute to college and back without feeling nauseous) but also be a weekend drag-racer. So should I choose a twin-turbo or twin-supercharger system? I looked at some builds and want an efficient (fuel-economy) system that can also be of high-performance when necessary (drag strip). I am currently looking at either a twin turbo kit by GTMotorsports: GTM Motorsports*::*FORCED INDUCTION*::*GTM-370Z-(TUNER) TWIN TURBO KIT or a GTMotorsports twin-supercharger system: STILLEN Supercharger System - Polished 407772P | STILLEN or just a single supercharger by Stillen: STILLEN Supercharger System - Polished 407772P | STILLEN So which one should I pick? And if you recommend a twin-turbo system, what stage/horsepower should I buy? eg. Stage 1 500 HP-Stage 6 1200 HP and what PSI should the wastegate spring be set to? For the twin-supercharger system, which stage/horsepower and pulley size should I buy? Thank you! Nuc |

To be honest, you should only be looking at the following kits:
Twin Turbo (Tony at Fast Intentions): *****Fast Intentions "Twin Turbo Kit" is here***** *****Fast Intentions Twin Turbo: OFFICIAL REVIEW THREAD***** Single Turbo (Sasha at Boosted Performance): Boosted Performance V 2.0 Boosted Performance round 2 list If I didn't go custom supercharger, I definitely would have gone with one of the above. That, and the customer service from both of these guys are TOP NOTCH. Highly recommended.

You can't really BUY any other kit.
You can wait for another kit. Expect to wait 6-12 months for anything from GTM

Why did you buy a brand new Z just to tear the engine out and rebuild it? Why not just stick with the FI TT kit and have some fun till you're ready for more? Slow down and read some threads. You can get all the power you need from this kit on a stock motor...you're in college right? I wish I had that kind of money to throw around at your age. You know the new Z06 will be here before you know it.

Thanks for all of the reviews guys The reason of why I have the money is due to a lot of bitcoin trading from high school (started about 2 years ago and bought 20 bitcoins for 1 dollar/bitcoin, then sold them when they were $1200 so that's how I got a large profit. I also had a summer job. I decided to go with a twin-turbo kit. Can you buy the fast intentions twin turbo kit online or do you have to call them? (Or are they currently sold out as the pre-sale list suggets)? Thank you!

Don't forget all of the supporting mods that you will need. Cooling, Clutch, Full Exhaust (Fast Intentions make the best), Tyres, Coilovers, Gauges etc etc. On a different note, I am SO jealous of your Bitcoin story. I first heard about them 10 years ago and thought "that sounds like a good idea but I have a crappy computer so I cant make many". I'd probably be able to retire on the amount that I could have made if I had gone ahead with it at the time.............bugger! |

You really have a lot of homework to do. Read these.
Forced Induction Finished Builds 370z Forced Induction for Noobs... From the way you phrase some things, I'm guessing you don't have a solid grasp of how things work. Go buy Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" and read it. Building the motor immediately isn't the best plan. Unless you grew up in a shifter kart, the amount of power you're going to get out of the stock block and a turbo kit will be more than your limited driving experience can handle anyway. Start with the kit and all the supporting mods. Worry about a built motor when and if you need it.

Forget about GTM, take your time and read everything there is to know about the 370z and force induction on this forum. There are a lot of guys here that know theres stuff and like Chuck said building the motor is just a waste of money for what your going to use the car.

Wait...You buy a 2014 Z, then want to dump 25K into it but one of your top concerns is "fuel economy"..lol.. I don't think you really know what you want.

I finished reading all of the guides but I still wonder: What is the difference (preferably charts) the twin-turbo system produces in each stage (stages 1-6) compared to a twin-supercharger system (stages 1-4). Also, I apologize for not making myself clear when I said the term "fuel economy". What I meant was which one is more fuel-efficient compared to the other, not the MPG. Also, are there any installation manuals/guides/videos for the twin turbo kits/ twin supercharger kits from Fast Intentions or GT Motorsports? The only one I could find for a twin-turbo kit was here: DIY GTM Twin Turbo Stage 2 Install!!
Thanks to everyone who beared with me! |
