TT Oil Change Frequency
Folks,
I am looking for a brief answer for suggested oil change frequency for light, mild, and aggressive driving styles with a TT kit running between 7-10psi. I would assume having more oil supply, from an oil cooler, would decrease the frequency of changes for all of the above. I run Redline Synthetic. Thanks in advance |

There's no set answer. Get an oil analysis from Blackstone and they'll let you know what's safe to run. They want me to run my current oil to 4500 miles, and well see if there's more room left to push it on the next analysis.

and I think oil changes every 3000 miles are cheaper than oil analysis, lol

For light to mild use, I'd go with Super Werty's frequent oil/filter changes. For medium to aggressive use, Chuck33079's UOA makes more sense. But who's going to go to the expense/effort of installing TT and putt around town.

Much more important than changing your oil, is making sure there is oil in there. Check your oil levels more frequently, especially if you do not park in the same place regularly (which would help alert you to oil drips). The TT car is more likely to make oil disappear. It has all the feed and return plumbing which is subject to possible leaks, and the turbochargers themselves may or may not consume oil. For the record I go a bit longer, but I wouldn't recommend it, I would just say I seem to be getting by. |

+1 on checking it often. There seems to be a lot of guys on this site who think that's not required of a vehicle and seem shocked when something goes south due to lack of oil.

Other turbo car manufacturers say 3750 miles under harsh driving which of course people will do but normal/taking it easy driving, try 7500. That being said I still do around 3k and oil reports always say try 4-5k next time but I don't listen, I like it fresh.

3000 miles? You all do that. I run AMSOIL (100% syn) and change it once a year in my Altima. In my Z I drive 5000 miles and will change it once a year which is overkill IMHO or after two track days.
3000 mile changes are not needed in modern cars: http://business.time.com/2011/12/19/...miles-already/

I change oil every 3k miles, I check for engine oil level every day and under ground to see if there is any oil dips here or there. These cars not are made for FI so better be careful, one mistake and its all gone.

Way to make this a political issue. For the rest of the group...read what the article says including BMW's recommendation, the test of New York cabs, and many others. You can also look at Europe. But then again they are all socialist hippies. You are better off getting protection by using synthetics than changing standard oil every weekend.
