Default New Z1 supercharger kit

Not sure if we already have a thread on this....

When I was watching a vid by Larry Chen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WljSkH3OS8I) he mentioned this kit. It's now available on Z1: https://www.z1motorsports.com/superc...8146cb9d0c7321

It looks like it's a super easy bolt-on kit with options from 450-600hp on stock internals. What is the consensus/opinion on a conservative build, just upping the hp to 450? I think that would be just perfect for what I want from the car.

Why not just get the Topgun one? It's the same but better, unless shipping is an issue?

A SC in general is a good option. 450whp is a nice and simply achievable goal. Not sure what the question is really though? With 550 and beyond is where you'll really need to start piling the money on and the less drivable "normally" it will be.

I'm interested in a simple installation, a reliable build, and 450hp is absolutely enough for me. I would like to do it myself, so if it's a possible jackstand garage DIY installation, I'd be happy for it. Shipping is "an issue" in any case, since I'm in europe...
But I mostly wanted feedback, opinions, such as yours. Topgun being a better option - any specific reason?

The Topgunz kit was a simple installation. I did it with a Quickjack, and probably couldn't done without even. I wasn't ever really under the car.
IMO, it's less cutting than Z1, because you don't have to notch frame rails at all with the Topgunz kit, just a bit more cutting around the (cheap, plastic) radiator support. The Z1 install says you have to cut into that frame rail metal to make the SC fit.
Both come with brackets for the overflow tank and the rotrex oil reservoir, and the rest is just bolting stuff together and routing some hoses.

Topgunz has two cold side exits instead of a coupling. The piping and intercooler are larger. The oil cooler for the unit is also substantially larger. These are all items that support more power at lower boost, keeps the oil cool for the unit, and better power scaling; especially at higher boost levels.

You can make "only" 450 with Topgunz' kit and, should you ever desire more, have the maps setup with your tune and changed via Ecutek map switching vs having to pay for extra pulleys (Z1).

Either kit will be able to be put together in your garage but there is less metal cutting with the TopgunZ kit. If you plan on adding a fuel return kit, you'll be under the car either way.

Finally, Z1 is notorious for overcharging for shipping, even within the States. What do you think they'll charge you? Just saying...

Finally: support the innovators not the imitators.

Beyond the tune:
I was having trouble with heat at the track. Because I have a wastegate set up with the Topgunz kit for limiting boost, I just swapped out springs trackside. It's WAY easier than a pulley.

One of the biggest differences you’ll notice from the Z1 and Topgun dyno charts is at the same level PSI, topgun is making WAY more torque across the powerband. I would agree that it’s better to install the Topgun kit, I’d rather cut through plastic than metal.

OP
If you are wanting a video breakdown of things - a local guy did the install on the TopGun kit and I believe he eventually went with the upgraded kit when it came out as well. From what I remember - he didn't have a lot of issues with the actual install except for on issue (user error I believe) but it was a 'quick fix'. He also discusses the cost of everything for going boosted as well. Regardless his channel can be found here:

I've watched all his install videos and he does a great job of explaining everything, so you know what you are getting into.

Thanks for the great feedback guys, I wasn't aware you had to cut metal to install Z1 kit.
Also, I know the Carizon channel, that dude is just great. Because of his detailed approach to the LSD installation, was I courageous to tackle it on my own, as well as made sure that the install was actually well done. I'll take a look at his supercharger vids to get a feeling about it.
Regarding power, I'm quite sure I'd stay within 450hp range, because I really want my engine to last as long as possible, and to be as reliable as possible. So I don't want to risk anything breaking due to overstressing or pushing the limits - and a sliiight increase in hp is just what the Z needs.

if topgunz kit didn't have such a long wait time it would be an easier sell
