Default Supercharger Debris Screen / Air Flow Straightener

https://928motorsports.com/parts/debris_screen.php

For those who are too lazy to click the link:

The Problem: Debris thrown by the supercharger can enter your engine and do real damage. This can happen whenever the impeller hits the housing, or at any time the supercharger ingests a foreign object and breaks a fin. The resulting metal flying off the impeller will ruin your intercooler, your MAF sensor, and worse if it gets into your engine. If the debris scratches your cylinder walls you will have ruined your engine!

Cheap Insurance: Our Debris Screen catches the large chunks and stops them before they can ruin expensive parts and engines.

Installation: Installs easily in any 3" hose after the supercharger or turbo.

Air Flow Straightener: The Debris Screen also functions as an air flow straightener, making the flow thru the induction tubing more laminar, smoother, and faster. Many report smoother idle and crisper throttle response.

Anyone have any idea on whether this is worth to get for your Supercharger or ... no?

For drag guys it will work. Driving on the street it will be a dirt ingesting monster. Oil analysis will show very high silicone levels.

Would the air-flow straightening effect be significant ahead of an intercooler, to the throttle bodies on the other side?

Well why not put this item PLUS a turboguard filter?
Or the 928 filter + a K&N filter for extra safety? Haha

Since the 928 goes after, and the regular filters go before?

The intercooler will undo any straightening that happens ahead of it.

That’s why you need 2 of them.

So, no data to back any of this up? No dynos to show it’s not just a big air restriction. Just “people report x and y”. Hmmmm

Reminds me of this guy https://www.tornadoair.com/

Since the main purpose is to catch debris, and assuming it actually does that, comparing it to the TornadoAir is not very fair.

Not really comparing, just said it reminded me of. "Stick this thing in your pipes, and things will be better". With no data to back it up.

This is the wishy-washy part:

"Air Flow Straightener: The Debris Screen also functions as an air flow straightener, making the flow thru the induction tubing more laminar, smoother, and faster. Many report smoother idle and crisper throttle response."

The same thing kids say after changing their oil or performing some other insignificant and unrelated maintenance. 928 was just smart enough not to say faster and smoother airflow = better MPG or more power. It'd still be nice to see an after dyno to make sure it's not just a restriction. Surely they did dyno it and chose not to post the results.
