Default Stillen custom tune

Guys,

I am confuse. Last week, I installed a Stillen supercharger on my 370Z with the Stillen tune. Used the OEM Uprev Flasher and reflashed my ECU. To this point, it worked fine. Now I want to have a custom tune since I feel I am leaving a lot of HP on the table (I don't think the Dyno was acurate but we did 335 WHP with the Stillen tune !) . I talked to a couple of tuner one of which was an Uprev dealer with experience on Nissan Z cars. They were asking me if the Stillen Tune is locked on the ECU, will they be able to pull the Stillen tune to start from if they use the Uprev Tuner software, ect ect ect ... Can someone help ...

It's my understanding that it's locked and you will be starting from scratch. Since the tune is CARB legal, it would make sense that it's not editable. And your dyno number probably isn't too far off with the godawful base map they inflict on their customers.

Shoot me an email. You probably don't have an up to date tune. markd@stillen.com

Had a customer the other day have a similar issue. Sent him an updated tune and he jumped up to 418 whp. Most of the tunes on the download directory are old and all the ROM's haven't been updated. I advise calling STILLEN or e-mailing us about the tune before spending more money on a custom tune.

Why would you need a new license?

As far as I know you can only lock the actual map with UpRev. The license can be reflashed as many times as you like. Pay a tuner to build you a custom map and upload it. I've flashed my car dozens of times.

Edit - And based on Stillen's response I would try their updated file route first and see what the results are with the 'new' tune file. If it gets you anywhere from 380-420, I'd leave it alone and don't tempt fate.

The cable Stillen Provides is locked.

The only thing you can do is load on THEIR tunes. (this might have changed)
this was my finding a few years ago. Had to purchase a new licence from my tuner. 2 weeks later it was popping a few codes, my tuner sent me a updated tune. The stillen cable wouldn't allow me to load on my tuners new map. Had a buy a whole new cable, and decided to buy the tuner version from uprev.

You can data log, But that's about it.

A phone call to UpRev would probably fix that. When I originally got my cable it would only log too. I had to call them and they told me how to update the cable to be able to flash.

Yea but you can take it to a tuner for a custom tune. No need to download anything . I did this with mine . Just load the can tune to get to my tuner.
