About to boost my car at 103k miles
So I just purchased a Stillen supercharger from a member here. I've been playing musical chairs with turbos and superchargers as i have owned 4 different kits but never put them on. Anyways I have 103k miles on my car. I have always taken care of it. The car is my daily driver. I don't abuse my car but I do drive her like she was meant to be. Im a little worried putting the supercharger on the car.
My questions are: 1. What should I do to make sure the car is ready for boost? 2. Do you think the car will blow if I have a good conservative tune? (looking to get 400-415 to the wheel) 3. Anyone else here have a boosted car over 100k miles or close to it? Ive never had any problems with my car other than a fuel pump go out on me. I know that keeping the car cool is key and I already have a 25 row Stillen oil cooler. I will have a boost and AF guage to keep an eye on things. Let me know what you think. It's a Stillen kit. It's 50/50 whether the motor lives.
OP - compression test, leakdown test, oil analysis and take a look at the plugs. If all that is fine, boost away.

Yep. The OP has had multiple kits, and the Stillen was the one he kept?
OP - FrozenBoost heat exchanger and CSF radiator minimum. That kit has serious heat problems. Personally I'd get a bigger oil cooler as well. Make sure you've got a good local tuner as the canned Stillen map is an abortion.

I want a supercharger for the driveability. Im not looking for max power. I think that 415 whp will beat 99% of the cars on the road. I have a few friends with other kits and they continually have to adjust or fix the turbo kits. Seems that is the nature of the beast. The people I know with superchargers (Stillen and GTM) and it seems like the problems just dont occur as much. Everyone with the Stillen kit is happy with the reliability. The power level well.... thats another thing, but thats them. Again I dont car about maxing the power on the car.

There's a lot of guys here very unhappy with Stillen because the way the MAF is set up leads to popped motors. Stillen kits seem to have killed more motors than any other manufacturer. It could be a passable kit if you keep intake temps down. Just know that you're playing with fire if you ever want so much as one more horsepower out of it.

Im going to have Jon at Z1 do the tune. He has tuned my car 4-5 times now and he seems to have a lot of experience with the Stillen kits. He said it a decent kit. He told me not to worry about the motor. Still worried anyways haha. Seems that the tune is the most important aspect of all this. Im at 329 whp now, an additional 70 whp will make me smile. Smiles per gallon not miles per gallon or whatever.

Go for it man, I've got 64k on my motor and plan on going FI in about year, so I'll have 75k+. Good luck, interested to see how it goes.
