VSR single-turbo owners....setup questions
Does everyone have the same type of open external wastegate setup like me? Just wondering if anyone routed their dump back into the exhaust or had any pipes fabricated to attach to the wastegate....either redirecting exhaust or recirculating.
Also, who has a different type of intake setup? I know there have been some different variations produced. I think mine was one of the first and better setups have been made.

I haven't gotten mines back yet but I noticed the variations and had the same questions as well, good thread Dan. Hope some others chime in on their setups

My setup is like yours Dan but my inlet filter is a littler further over the intercooler. My gate is open dump. I think every kit is a little bit different in orientation but the same in the end.
Are you thinking about routing your dump back into exhaust? |

OMG we have entirely different intercoolers and pipes too!! Yours intercooler is wider and shorter in height, which allows that air filter to fit....mine won't be able to do that I don't have nearly as much room up top as you because of my tall intercooler. I'd love to have your intake and interooler setup, but that'd probably require all different pipes too. When did you have your setup installed? Just trying to see the time difference between builds between the different setups....mine was Aug 2013.
I was thinking about rerouting the dump into the exhaust or maybe just get a pipe fab'd up to the wastegate to redirect the gases to a better spot.

They didn't make a dump tube to attach to the wastegate? They just have the wastegate open? That's a lot of insanely hot gas you would think they would want to direct to a safe location.

Yeah, nothing on the wastegate, but it seems to be okay....been dumping like that for over a year and a half and about 15,000 miles....no problems. Just looking to clean it up/make it better.

You should have someone just fab up a little turn-down dump pipe so you're not blasting that flex joint with all the exhaust.

Buy a v-band flange and clamp that mates to the gate dump and weld on a 90 to point it to the ground. |

My dump has been fine too although it looks like mine aims more toward the ground than yours? You could probably turn it a little if you wanted to. |

Wow I haven't been on here in forever. ZDaveZ, how old is your kit? Thats the first time I've seen the intake setup like that and like it.

10,000 miles on the set up but only 38,000 miles on the car. Mechanic made a new intake tube to extend the filter down in front of the opening on the ZL front bumper. Also makes it so I can change the filter by removing the front inner fender liner rather than removing the bumper.
