Weird problem
I tried searching, here and via google and not sure im searching correctly. this problem has been happening off and on for a while now... somedays my car starts just fine. other days it will go from acc --> on (nothing happens) --> acc --> on(nothing happens) --> acc... over and over and over. and it will not start UNLESS I slam my clutch to the floor. I don't like doing that so I try not to. but im telling you it will not start, sometimes, unless I slam the clutch to the floor, sometimes I have to slam it few times.
somedays itll start up just fine with no issues... and again I apologize if my exact same issue has been posted and discussed but like I said I tried searching here and via google and nothing came up. I might have not used the right search terms so I do apologize if I upset anyone. fob key batt. is brand new, changed it 2 days ago. didn't help. doesn't matter if key is in fobgina or in my pocket. Please help me. Thank you. 2011 base model, no bose, 6 MT. ~30k miles. only mod is aftermarket exhaust. |

Im not sure exactly on the 370, but i would be willing to guess that you have a clutch sensor going out. The vehicle thinks your clutch isnt depressed, so it wont start until you basically slam it around. Give you local dealership a call, and explain this to someone in the service department, and i would be willing to agree. Probably a $40 fix that you can do yourself.

Sounds like you're pressing your ignition switch too early. Depress the clutch fully prior to pressing anything. Slamming **** only makes things break. Otherwise yes your clutch safety switch is not working properly. If its similar to the 350z there is a small switch ( button looking) mounted behind he clutch lever. When the clutch is depressed this switch should be pressed. Before buying anythong I would inspect this area for anything causing the switch not to be pressed. Such as interference or misalignment.

is this the part in question?
11 2011 Nissan 370Z Neutral Safety Switch - Transmission - Standard Motor Products - PartsGeek @edlia - it doesn't matter how slow or fast i push the start button. i can press the clutch softly and all the down, hold it down firmly against the floor, wait 10seconds and push the start button and it will just go back to off... |

Then its definitely you're clutch safety switch. Check the switch. See if its loose or misaligned, take it out and clean it. If you're still having issues buy a new one they aren't too expensive and its a breeze to replace.
