Seibon CF OEM style hood
So I finally pulled the trigger on a CF hood after thinking about it for quite a few months and I have to say I am extremely pleased with it. The fitment of this thing is flawless and it looks amazing. That was the biggest worry I had going into it. I heard a lot of horror stories about gaps and fitment issues so I almost didn't do it.
Well, here's how it looks now. |

It looks good, but I always wondered what the point of replacing an OEM hood with one that looks just like it. Unless one has a CF fetish I guess. If I were to do it, I would have gotten one with some vents at least.
Not a criticisms, just a thought I had.

Looks really good, I was thinking about doing the same thing. Clear coating it will give it extra protection from elements etc. Having a CF hood that looks OEM is really for the look, I read somewhere that it is almost the same weight as stock.

Oem hood weighs 16 lbs and my seibon vsii wet carbon hood weighs 22lbs. Not sure about the oem style wet carbon hood but our oem hood is lite weight aluminum so unless you get dry carbon it's heavier

I'm aware of the difference, but since it was covered under insurance I wanted to go for it. I really like how it looks in person, I wasn't sure of it at first when looking at pictures online. I have to clear coat it still, but I'm covering/garaging it for the winter very soon. I'll probably have it done sometime in the spring.
Overall I'm very happy with it. I considered vents but that would change the aerodynamics of the car. I didn't want to do that without having a full understanding of what it would effect. I'm still new to the performance car game so I'm learning and getting my bearing as I go along. This was purely cosmetic :P |
