Synchro-rev not functioning/illuminating
Having an issue, let me quickly detail what I did with my car today;
-Taken out of storage this morning (battery was disconnected during storage, so I reconnected it today of course). - By default, the rev-matching feature was off initially, so I turned it on, left it on, and didn't experience any problems. - Next, installed a new head unit in the afternoon ---> disconnected the battery temporarily, and removed parts of the center console/shifter area during installation. No issues after the installation, except... ..On my next drive, after multiple attempts to turn on the synchro-rev system, the light/feature wouldn't activate. I drove home and removed the shifter trim while the car was still running and made sure the S-mode button was connected properly, reattached the trim piece, and then the "S" finally displayed near the tach on my subsequent attempt. Turned the car off. Then, on my last outing of the day, I once again couldn't get the SRM to activate. Any ideas? Is there something I need to address after re-connecting the battery? Thanks for reading. |

That's because you need to keep that little white box to remain plugged in. Maybe even part of the radio harness. It's all combined. Could also be a fuse by the battery, you'll have to pull it out.
Look anything like this? Notice normal function

I'll look into the suggestions later today. My gut feeling is that I just have a bad connection at the S-mode button, as Nissanboy mentioned. Since the synchrorev engaged at least once, maybe something has some unwanted play, and is currently isn't lined up.
Synolimit's suggestion will be my next try, I don't recall the HVAC panel not illuminating, but I could've missed this. And yes, Zerocool, I already reset the auto-up windows, all good there. Thanks for the help so far. |

Since the problem cropped up immediately after installing the new HU, I suspect a loose connector or a cut wire. Could be the switch - easy enough to check with an ohmmeter.
I don't recall reading anything about having to reset SRM after removing power but I have a 7AT and may have overlooked it.

i had the same problem when i installed my head unit. it has something to do with improper seating of the button. I just had nissan take care of it for me during an oilchange.

Update: It's working currently, all it took was removing the shifter trim piece yet again and fiddling with the back of the button. Nothing really seemed loose though, and I didn't hear or feel anything snap into place.
Hopefully it's fixed for good and won't be an intermittent issue. At the moment, my only thought is that maybe I had bent a pin when I was first taking the center console apart during the radio install yesterday. I did initially try to unplug those connections (s-mode and hazards) from the shifter trim, but gave up and decided to work around them. |

another reason why i dont unplug the battery for storage or any stereo install.
the ONLY time i unplug the battery is when i need to swap it out (duh), or doing anything with srs. like steering wheel swap. |

Mine did the same thing upon removal and replacement of the shifter trim. After taking it back apart to see why it wouldn't work, finding nothing wrong, and reinstalling, it has worked fine ever since.
