Just get the long harness you'll be able to connect it wherever you want it. Thats what I did anyways.

As is mine as well as the brakes. I did the 2 element conversion & use it for brakes (Brighter element w/ flasher) & taillight (dimmer element) If I ever needed it constant on, I'm sure my other lights would need to be on as well hence the taillight tap

Well I'm planning on just connecting it to the lights that illuminate the license plates. I guess what I'm asking is if it can be done w/ the short wire harness from Z1 or do I HAVE to connect it to the tail lights?

I believe on Z1's site it specifies that the short harness is for the license plate lights and the long harness is for the tail lights. Which is why I chose the long harness.

You need to change the light socket from a 7440 socket to a 7443 socket

Here's the DIY

Rear Foglight - Running light AND brake light
Trips and 1st like this.

Do It Yourself Fog Lamp (EASY)

Here is the link to the set up you want. You don’t even need to get the Z1 wire harness (short or long) this uses a different type of wire (Invisicord).

But is this install possible w/ the harness from Z1?

If using the Z1 short harness you would not be able to stuff it in the Fog light harness like the DIY link I posted. If you get the Z1 harness then I wouldn't see why you wouldn't be able to hook it up to your license plate lights. But you would need to tap into the license plate lights and not stuff the wire into the fog light harness.

Actually that DIY is the reason why I decided to do this mod it's cuz when I ordered the fog light from Z1 it came w/ a free short wire harness. I was just wondering if I could do that DIY but with the harness from Z1. I guess I'm gonna have to try simotas DIY first before I order the invisicord cable.
