Slight squeal...
Ok - just switched out my stock for Pole Position S-04s. Love the tires.
But now there is slight squeel when I lightly apply the brakes - can't quite determine which wheel yet. On my FX - when the installers rotated the tires - the over tightened one wheel and it slightly bent the rotor. Infiniti replaced it under warranty - with little hassle. ALtho they did try to tell me it was the spacer. My reponse was - the spacer is bolted to the hub, not the rotor! They were like - "uh, yeah, you're right." Wondering if they did the same thing here. Altho I watched them hand tighten them to 80pds. Thoughts anyone? |

is it tire squeal? if so, break the new tires in. make sure psi is 35 cold or a tad higher. i use 37-38psi on my S04's on my G. no squeal
80lbs/ft is correct. if the squeal is coming from the brakes then it's possible your brakes are dirty. take it up to an open road, go 50mph and stomp on the brake hard enough to engage ABS down to about 10mph, do that a few times to clean the pad surface and keep driving for another 5min or so to cool them off. |

Or, the backing plate is ever so slightly touching the rotor. If it is, it's easy enough to bend back out of the way.

Since you only mention the problem when braking and not when turning, I'd say it's the brakes. Kenchan's procedure should fix the problem (just one good stop may do the trick). Chuck33079's backing plate theory is easy to check and gives you a good excuse to inspect the rest of the suspension while you're there.

If you smack the backing plate with the wheel when you take the wheel off, it'll bend.

Even if it is the plate, it's still a good idea fun to check the ABS every now and then.

Bonus points if you wait until your GF in the passenger seat dozes off and you scream as you nail the brakes.

I forgot about the backing plate...had this on my G37S coupe after spacers and wheel upgrade.
It only happens when applying the breaks...so it could be dirty or just the plate. Thanks! -s- |

yah, try stomping on it per my above post. if that doesn't take care of it, would remove the pads and apply some brakequiet on the back of the pads and re-install.
