Default Building a complete under aero tray and diffuser :)

Planning on building a complete under tray from the front bumper to the rear. Then trying for a diffuser. First thing I need to know is what do you guys think a good thickness on aluminium should be? Does anyone know the thickness of a Z1 under tray would be? I have plate that's 0.10-0.11 thick but its really stiff and seems to be over kill. Was thinking about 0.05 thick. Any ideas?

Only suggestion I have is maybe to consider a material called Dibond instead of the aluminum sheet. I know a lot of AutoX guys use dibond for there front splitters.

Thought about it but since it won't carry load like a splitter would I think regular should be ok.

I did find this though...build full under tray and diffuser - MY350Z.COM Forums

I have some reading to do with angles and all that.

Just for clarification...that is NOT a Z1 product (I know bc I worked there). It is actually a part from ZSPEED Performance (Joe Allison). Just want to make sure credit is given where credit is due.

Check out TimeAttackForums.com. These guys are hard core track guys who build a fair amount of their own aero parts. Dybond, thin SS or aluminum, plywood....they use it all. There was a guy who built an entire aluminum undertray setup like this for his Evo. Front to back it was 5~6 pieces with an integrated diffuser.

Dybond is an awesome product. But be careful around the exhaust sections. Dybond would be OK for the sides, but I would not use it to cover the trans tunnel or close to the diff/exhaust.
