I did some searching...center console spring??

Anyone else have this issue? I push my center console button and it just sits there. Shouldn't it spring up? http://youtu.be/er0r3Tote_E

LOL, sorry brother.
Mine doesn't "spring up" by any means, but it for sure isn't as craptasic as yours

IMO, you have 3 choices.
Dealershit: (I went in once for the same thing/it rattled) and they replaced the WHOLE assembly... But I think the lid comes as it's own piece as well
DIY (1): Take the whole thing out and disassemble it and put a rubber band, or something else that is stretchy (but hopefully won't oxidize over time like a rubber band) to pull the back and flip the lid open
DIY (2): put some rubber stoppers in the rim of the lid (by rubber stoppers I mean those clear nub things they use and anti slip feet)

If you do a DIY, please take a million pictures and please do a write up!

HAHA!! Great. Well, looks like I'm gonna get my hands dirty. I already tried to rip it out of the holes to see what's in there, or what causes it to spring up. If it IS a spring, I could just replace it with a stronger one, but we shall see. I'll keep this thread updated!!

... I gotta think... (Z is in the shop) so... I THINK there is actually a sping inside the assembly nearest the button to open it, and that pushes up on the lock of the door...
I hope that makes sense. If it doesn't, shoot me a text (310)eight nine three-4207

Check the hinges. On my '09 Touring, the lid gently rises up to about 45* when I press the latch button. As far as I can tell, there is no spring in the latch to pop the lid up - it's all in the hinges. Maybe your hinges just need a good cleaning and lube.

I was thinking the hinges first, but since I don't have my car I don't really remember if there is a thing pushing it open

I had to check. I was thinking there was a spring in the latch to assist opening, if only the first 1/2" or so, but it didn't feel like one was there when I tried it. (There's is a little "springiness" for the last 1/8" or so when closing, but not really enough to help open the lid.) It appears to be spring-loaded hinges (with some kind of damper) doing all the work.

So, I went back out and was messing with it. IDK if this forum is drug friendly, or not, personally I don't care either way...but there is a sick a$$ stash spot in our center console.....
