Disconnect the battery first. Then there are two retaining bolts to remove the airbag (they're safety torx - 6mm, I believe). Then one large nut for the steering wheel (19mm, I think). Next, you pull the console covers off and you should have access. Here's an exploded diagram of the layout: |

FYI...take it slow and easy w/ the torx screws...they're in their tight (locktite)...so it's easy to strip the heads. It was a pain to change my steering wheel out (I stripped one of the torx heads), but if it was easier, I'd probably jump on these CF shifters too. Good luck...and post pics when you're done! |

It's actually pretty easy to pull the steering wheel off (I can usually do it on the Z and GT-R in about 5-10 minutes). The whole process should take you about an hour or two if you go slowly. |

Make sure you use tamper-proof Torx. Also, spray some penetrating oil and let it sit for a good 15 minutes. Mine came out with no problem. Of course my car smelled like penetrating oil for a month, but...

Here's how the install is on a 2009+ Maxima: https://plus.google.com/photos/10277...MTWuuDMtIDU_AE
Since you guys have the exact same steering wheel that I do and the paddle shifters are the same for Maxima/370/G37/GTR, you shouldn't have to remove the airbag to swap out the paddles. You turn the wheel 180 degrees each way, revealing a small square plastic covering a screw on each side and take those out. Take out the screw on the bottom side and you should then start to be able to pull trim pieces off (I think top piece first). Then as they come off they expose more screws that release the other trim pieces. Once you have the column shroud completely off, you'll see the connectors going into the paddle switch units on each side. Disconnect those, then unbolt each switch unit from each side. Reverse all the steps and you're done. Honestly shouldn't take you more than an hour! Hope this helps.
