Paint / Nose mask question
I have searched and read all of the threads on the paint quality and the clear bras etc.
Has anyone actually used the nose mask for any amount of time and how did you like it? I ask this because in Hawaii, they want $900 for a clear bra and it just isn't happening. I drive to the store (30 mph) get rock chips, I get bird crap on the car, clean it right off and it eats through the clear. This is kind of my last ditch effort before looking for another car. |

If you can get the Avery Nano Fusion clear bra insaleld I highly recommend it. It will be well worth it and will save your paint. Yes it does cost a lot but in the long run will be much cheaper than repainting and you will have a better resale value. I go through about 20 car forums a ay and I can tell you every single forum has the same complaints.... so it is not a 370Z issue.

I just may do the install myself. I still don't understand why bird crap will eat through clear-coat in 5 minutes with good wax on the car. Just seems like they could have done a lot better with the paint.

Self install is always an option but can be very tricky. 3M has a slow acting adhesive and it is very difficult to install. I would recommend VentureShield or Avery Nano Fuison as they are much easier to work with and stretch. The new Xpel film is easy to install... the only issue is removing the capsheet prior to installation.
If you have any questions let me know. I will be happy to help out. I do agree that the paint is soft but it is not a Nissan issue... its industry wide. |

We'll I ordered the nose mask (don't love the look, but I do have a black car) so it won't look too bad. The roads here are so bad, that is just isn't worth not having something. I talked to the installer (the only guy who is any good around here) and the $900 quote was just for the front bumper, the parts I want done are over 1200 dollars. I like me car, but not 1200 like it, I would rather just re-paint over time if needed.
I looked into putting it on myself, and while I am mechanically inclined, I don't know if I would feel comfortable doing it myself. |

If you are, keep in mind a couple things. If it gets wet, you want to get it off ASAP and dry it out. Also keep in mind that debris will collect up in the hood and made it's way under the mask and this can cause scratching, so try and keep this area clean and when you remove the mask lift up rather than just pulling it off. Good luck...

So, I will see how it goes. I have a Porter Cable etc if it does get and scratches to buff them out. |

well, this is an old thread, but I just bought my 2012 Z and put one on there. Every car I've ever had has bad paint chips on the front end from crop flying up and hitting it. Florida roads are HORRIBLE!!!!! This is my attempt to stave that off a bit. I have the Metallic Gun Metal color, so it doesn't look bad on there.

I will consider placing an order, since I am old school and grew up with LE-BRA. The way not to have the paint get scuffed is to wax and polish it many times before you place it and don't park under pine trees, needles love to hide inside the bra le bra.jpg
