Default OEM Wing Removal

Hey everyone,

I know there are a few other threads on the removal of the stock rear deck spoiler. I removed the 4 bolts holding it in and now all that's left is the 3M tape holding it down.

How can I remove the tape without damaging the clear coat? I don't have fishing line, and I figure that using a heat gun could warp the clear coat.

Will be installing the Amuse wing with the rest of the kit when the body panels come. Can't wait for it.

I put painters tape on the deck lid around the edge of the spoiler to protect deck lid and slid a putty knife between the deck lid and spoiler to cut through the tape. It worked great.

You could also use dental floss, but will need to add additional patience as it's not as strong as fishing line

Just needs to be thin, strong, and flexible. Something with a rough texture will cut faster but you could damage the paint if not careful.

Since NY probably won't give you a hot summer day to heat up the adhesive, you're going to want some fishing line. Shouldn't be terribly hard to acquire.

So, google 3M Stripe Off Wheel, and search youtube 'how-to 3M stripe off wheel'. I didn't believe how great it worked. Took it to my new Pearl White Nismo rear and was blown away.

Interesting tool.

But what does it have to with spoiler removal?

I don't need to.

I don't think that is what he means by removing the tape. He means how to cut through the tape in order to get the wing off. In order to use what you are suggesting, he needs to remove the wing first. If you read the OP, you will realize that the wing is still held on by the tape and has not been removed..
