12 Volt Solutions Remote Start
So I installed the 12 Volt Solutions remote start this morning. It was easy to do, they have easy to follow instructions and videos. It works!
A couple things to note: I put it on my 2018 Nismo Tech. It is labeled as 2009-2017, but it still worked. There is an additional grey plug they say you might need. In my case I needed it, but I had to troubleshoot to figure it out since it doesn't have my year listed. It does cost more than other systems, but I opted for this one after doing some research because of ease of use and customer support. I was not compensated by 12 Volt Solutions (but if they read this they can feel free to reach out ;D). I just thought I would throw this info out there because I couldn't find it anywhere. Cheers! |

I wish there were a remote start for sports package MT cars that can determine if the car is in neutral. I can dream....

Hmm that looks easy
If someone breaks into the car while car is remotely started, would the car drive without the key fob?

I'm assuming so. You don't need the key fob once it's running. There's a beep when the fob leaves the vicinity of the car. But it will still drive.

Ya I was surprised when I did an experiment, and car just kept going without the key. I was hoping that this module would disallow it, at least during the remote start and until door gets unlocked (via key fob, not key) for the first time.

Someone would actually have to break in. It starts with the lock button, so the car is locked. The website says it won't go into drive without the fob in the car, but I haven't tested it. I will try it and post on here later.

Thankfully I got into the habit of not parking in gear

I just tested this with the remote start. I started the car remotely and then unlocked the door. I left the key outside of the car, and as soon as I shifted it out of park it cut off.

That's a nice feature. I'm guessing that is a OEM feature on the 7AT. No such luck in the MT version though. Once the car is started you can drive it away with or without the fob. But if you turn it off you won't be able to start it up again without the fob.

Nah, it’s not an OEM thing. In 7at, once engine starts, you can drive off without the key. The cutoff is a feature of this remote start.
