I have two fobs, one works fine the other doesn`t work at all even with a new battery, do they need to be re-programmed occasionally

Stick the one that doesn't work in the fobgina and see if it will let you start the car. It will have to be reprogrammed if it won't.
It shouldn't ever need reprogramming, but electronics is electronics. Sometimes they do wonky stuff... Kirk B. |

First thing I would try is: disassemble the fob, removing the battery and the soft rubber button pad from the case. Spray the electronics with copious amounts of contact cleaner. Check for any corrosion on the battery contacts and other parts of the electronics - clean as needed. Clean the plastic case halves and the button pad with appropriate cleaner (water and mild soap will work). Let everything dry. Clean the battery with a dry paper towel. Reassemble and test.
