Default Wiring under headliner

I am trying to run a wire for dashcam and radar under the headliner to get to the A-pillar. I've found many threads of people doing similar things. Generally people say they just are able to tuck the wiring into the headliner. But I am majorly struggling to do that. I can't pull it open at all to get any gap and I can't push the wire into any gap. I've tried using a screwdriver and a pry tool to just ease the opening so I can fit the wire in. But even the tools I can barely get to go under the headliner, it seems extremely snug and I don't want to force anything under it and break it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get the wire into the headliner? Thanks

You need a seriously curved pry tool. Gently apply force until it begins to gap.

I used a q-tip to shove the wires as deep and gently as I could without disturbing the headliner mounting points. Worked like charm

Wrapping a microfiber towel around a thin panel tool also worked sufficiently.

That's not the only place he shoves q-tips

I just couldn't bring myself to do it. You might be right, but even with a very thin screwdriver, I couldn't get any amount of separation without hearing it crinkle like it was about to break. I wasn't willing to push any harder. I tried many different tools. Not sure if the previous owner could have added a different headliner somehow, but I had a friend look at it too and he couldn't see how it was possible to move it back.

I ended up using some slicone to adhere the wires in place, but out of sight at normal viewing angle.

Thanks for the reply though.

I dunno if my headliner is different than some. No way I could have gotten a q tip in there. I couldn't even slot a tiny screwdriver past the opening.

I ended up just using some silicone to adhere the wires in place but mostly out of sight.

When I fitted an auto dimming mirror I removed the rain sensor cover (pulls off) and ran the cable to the interior light unit (which I had removed from the headliner). Thats as far as I went as I used the light as a power source (sub light)

Perhaps if you did that and also removed the interior light you could use a length of wire coathanger to see if its possible to get to the top of the A pillar.

To permit the the entry of the cable from the auto dimming mirror I filed a small notch in the rain sensor cover.
