Custom Crash Beam
Looking to modify my Stillen intakes by cutting off the 3" adapter section (bad design = turbulence) and replacing that with a 30-degree silicon elbow and velocity stack combination, which of course wouldn't work with the OEM crash beam.
Not looking to risk my life by running without this for the sake of maybe 2hp and throttle response, so I wondered if anybody has gone to a shop to have a custom one fabbed up, or if the cost to do that is a wash with the SOHO option ($350). Not looking at the Z1 service because if I'm spending money on this I'd rather get something slimmer for better airflow. Thanks in advance!

It's honestly not worth the time and effort. If you really want those last 2-3 hp, then just get tuned for E85. It definitely wakes up the vehicle and makes it a lot more responsive.

FI also manufactures a crash bar.

True, but also would require injectors, a fuel pump, and probably a flex fuel kit. These intake parts total $150 or so.

Just checked the price on the FI model and its $429.00. That obviously rules that out in this case.

I had mine done locally for $100.00
I used a dewalt sawsall and cut the bar myself to make sure it fit the way I wanted. Then I took it to a welding shop and told them to weld 3/8” plate over the cut out I made. Last edited by SG4247; 10-16-2019 at 07:57 PM. |

You only need GTR Injectors to run E85 on a seperate map. No need for flex fuel, as long as you have a good tuner. I've tuned plenty of G37s and Zs with seperate 93 and E85 maps. Only cost is the injectors ($150~) plus the retune which I include with my tunes.
