370z trunk will not latch
Yesterday, I had closed my trunk only to find out it was not latching/locking in place. It was fine during the day and all of a sudden it acts up on me later that day. Anyone experience this issue and found a remedy for it that does not require a replacement of parts?

I know exactly what you’re are talking about, as this happened with my ‘07 Z. There is a temp solution but a pain in the @$$, and will be better off replacing the latching mechanism part. Correct me if I’m wrong but what you are experiencing is where you’re trying to close the trunk but will not lock, and when you push down the hatch, it doesn’t catch and comes back up correct? Temp solution (also if you are going to replace) is where you remove the weatherstrip, take off the top plastic black piece and unscrew the locking mechanism piece. Take this piece apart as well, and you should see plastic gears/teeth and is jammed up. Unjam, put back together, and re-install, until it jams up again. For the locking mechanism part, you will need small Philips head, like the ones you use to repair glasses. Take your time, as doing it the wrong way will result in locking/latching, but unable to release the hatch.
Just keep in mind this is a temp solution and even if you unjam, it will jam up again, and replacing will save you a lot of time and worry. Search it under my350z.com and there will also be pictures on what to do/look for.

No paper jam. In this case, the OP is experiencing where the latching hook doesn’t catch onto the trunk hook because of a internal gear jam.

i dealt with this BS. you really need a new actuator(if i remember correctly). cleaning doesn't fix it for long. (i think cause my plastic gears broke..not 100% sure)
instead of replacing mine i just ghetto rigged a chord to my emergency hatch release and use that when i need to use the back. careful to not hit the button or it may get stuck and you have to manually release it again. i freak out when ever a passenger tries to open the back lol

Posting here for those that come looking. I've dis-assembled re-assembled once and that worked a while but it has happened again. BS this part cost so much and is so prone to failure they haven't come out with an updated part. https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...n-t-latch.html
