Default Main Instrument Gauge swap for Nismo 2015+ Gauges

So currently I own a 2010 40th anniversary Z. Been slowly converting my vehicles interior silver trim to the 2015+ Nismo Gun metallic trim. I am currently working on the the main Gauge Cluster behind the steering wheel and was able to source a 2017 Nismo replacement.

My question to you all is it a direct swap plug and play? From what I read on nicoclub.com’s FSM files it looks to be a direct swap. I know the concern was making sure the gauges was both sport model, manual gear indicator gauges. Has anyone attempted to replace there Instrument gauges with a newer model Z parts? And I’m presuming mileage reading of the vehicle will be reading of what the ECU is sending to the new Nismo unit?

Thanks in adavance. I’ve researched for a couple days without any luck.

Hi !
From my point of view it is a direct replacement, only the color is different.

Can you try something while you are disconnecting the Gauge cluster : can you try to start the car without gauges ? I would like to remove it totally but need to know if the car can be driven without oem gauge cluster. (My Z is actually off at the shop for paint jobs)

The mileage is stored in the instrument cluster. The new cluster will not accurately display the car's mileage until it is reprogrammed.

I have a 2010 BASE and my cluster is from a 2015+ nismo, its direct replacement, doesn't show selected gear but works great otherwise, mileage is stored in cluster so if you want ti to be correct you have to send the cluster to a company that can adjust it, otherwise you need a sticker on the door jamb that shows old/new mileage otherwise its against the law to show different mileage then what the car really has.

I have a 2017 touring roadster with manual trans. The car does not have a gear position indicator on the instrument cluster, but I'd like to have one. So I was thinking of just swapping out the instrument cluster with one that has the indicator. From Scope22's post, it sounds like the gear indicator function won't work on a car that didn't have it originally. Do I have this right? Is there any way to get this functionality?
Thanks!

sure, you need an new SRM tranny + sport ECU + someone competent to wire it all up.

Hey man, check out my ig: @austinhertel. Im currently in the middle of doing my dash swap with an Aim MXG. Yes the car will run and function fine without the cluster with only one issue. That issue being that the OEM cluster triggers the alternator to work. No cluster plugged in and the car will run off of the juice left by the battery until it gets low enough (around 12V) to put the car into limp mode. You have to wire in the right combo resistors to trick the ecu to think the oem cluster is there.
