Default How to fix airbag after crash

Hi guys.
I had a small accident with my Z. Hit the right rear wheel drifting and the passenger seat airbag and the curtain BOOOMMM. Obviously, now the airbag light stays on all the time.
Can anyone help me saying what I need to buy or do to go back everything as it was before the crash?
I already have the airbags, but I dont know anything about module, sensors, etc ... Please help me.
Thank you.

take it the dealer and have them fix it properly, these are critical safety devices and if not installed properly can cause injury or they will not deploy correctly and if you sell the car you dont want to be liable for someones injuries because you messed with airbags.

Have you checked the FSM? It will have all the information you need. Now if you don't know what to do with that information, you'll need to take the car into a competent shop to get it repaired.

Good luck with the repairs. Hope you learned a good lesson from this

Thank you bro.

Nissan does not sell the 370Z in Brazil (I live here). Those that exist in the country came by direct importation. If I take the car to dealer, they will not even know to change the brake pad. It's sad, but it's true.
So I'm going to have to buy the parts in the United States, like I already did to fix the car. Now I need to solve this issue of airbags. And this is taking my sleep.
I think of switching to a nismo, but no one will want to buy my car with airbag light on.

zettobr,

I've changed several airbag systems in the shop where I work from time to time. Generally, replacing the the airbag and the control module for that specific bag is all that's required on MOST vehicles.

However, I recently did the side curtain airbag for a BMW X5, replaced the module, and then the car needed to be taken to a BMW dealership to get the system reset (normally not required on most cars).

As JARblue suggested, check the FSM here on the forum (download it) and search the SRS system to see what Nissan says. Good Luck!

Gene

As was mentioned above, airbags are not something to be messing with if you don't know what you are doing. Not all that difficult but it has to be done properly. Repair procedures are in the FSM (along with names/numbers of parts) - if you don't understand them, take it to someone that does. IIRC, you can reset the system yourself - procedure, if it exists, should be in FSM.

If the site's search isn't finding what you need, go to any of the major web search engines and add "site:the370z.com" to your search string. Eg, airbag replacement site:the370z.com
