Seat belt issues...
So a friend and I went out to lunch today, she goes to put on her seat belt and it's soaked? How the hell has that happened? It's apparently been that way for a few days as it smells a little as well.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance!

Did it get closed in the door?
Maybe Hermine?

It probably got soaked with rain water or something when the door was closed and the seatbelt was hanging outside; Or you have a leak somehow near the top of the seatbelt. (I highly doubt it)

What was it soaked in? Water? Coca-Cola? Piss?

Okay, time for some answers...
No, the seat belt was not hanging out of the door, nor has it ever. Never any drinks in the car or near it for that matter. And I'm pretty sure no one has pissed in it. No car wash, ever. And it's a brand new car, so no heater core leaking. Nothing else in the car is wet. I checked several times and the window closes all the way, every time. Now when I had the roof rapped, they pulled back the A-pillar and top piece above the doors. If that wasn't reinstalled correctly (which it looks and feels like it is), would that cause any leaks down in the car anywhere? Also, as some of you may know, there has been a crap load of rain down here the past few days. There's no possible way water could be getting kicked up from under the car and get in where the seat belt mechanism is, can it? I don't think so.

Out of all the possibilities, it sounds like water maybe coming from where the A pillar trim, etc was removed for the roof wrap.
Or, maybe some sealant wasn't put on somewhere underneath the car and water is coming in that way. I saw it before when I was a tech for Mercedes Benz. Some sealant wasn't applied underneath the car and water filled the area underneath the carpet and soaked the carpet. If this was the case for your car, I'm sure you would have to have several inches of water for it to reach the seat belt.

Just a possibility, did they by chance disconnect the battery before pulling stuff apart for the wrap? If so, did you reset the windows? If not, the windows are not shutting tight and leaving a gap.

Nismo IX, the battery has never been disconnected. I do know this is bugging the hell out of me though. I don't want this car giving me issues. And I hate the idea of taking it to the dealership. Typically, they make things worse. And they still haven't called to fix my rear bumper paint, which is now over 3 months!

I agree with you, that sucks. I don't trust anyone with my car so I'm with you on that.

If you want to try and diagnose it yourself...get someone to sit in the passenger seat with the window rolled up while you take a garden hose and let the water run all around the A pillar trim and all around the window to try and see where the water could be entering the cabin.

Pull the seat belt out and let it dry first. Then you can spray water at different part of the car one part at a time and see which part is leaking/get the belt wet.
