It's actually not much of a vent.. their is a small hole or two big enough for the molding to be place in there. As for have air pass thru

It's actually not much of a vent.. their is a small hole or two big enough for the molding to be place in there. As for have air pass thru it...not much will go through unless you do some cutting. you'll know what i mean if you decide to do the conversion. Good luck
