Sunline rear Spats???
I appreciate any help!
Who sells these? Can someone please send me link to someone who sells the actual product? I've been searching and I'm just not sure I'm finding the real deal. I purchased some Shine Auto splats from Z1 a long time ago and the finish was not good. Bubbles were uncovered in the material when sanded and had to be filled... and the fit is TBD... pending paint if they ever get done! I don't have much hope for these... so I'm looking for a better product that I can take to a better body shop that might actually finish them for me. I have never had this much trouble getting these two little pieces for my car... p.s. Don't get any work done at Custom Car Crafters in Austin Tx. It's been more than 10 months that they've had my parts. The parts have been painted 3+ times and have never looked even close to good enough to put on a junker let alone my Z.

I feel you man. I recently went through trying to get parts installed on my Z and the guy that did the work not only fitted the aftermarket parts incorrectly. He managed to damage other parts of the car as well. If you are near Huntsville, AL do not let Matt Hornbuckle do any work on your Z. I think since my incident he has switched to doing detail services as body work is not in his skillset. Personally I wouldn't let him touch my Z or anything else I own ever again.
As far as finding actual Sunline Racing parts. Try these guys. 370ZTUNE.com

Jsutton2,
Can you post some pictures of the bubbles uncovered? Were they small or large bubbles. Our composite parts are hand-made. Air bubbles (small or large) are a common occurance because human production is never perfect/flawless. Sometimes sanding will uncover air bubbles, but that's the problem. You have to sand the part first to see if there were any air bubbles, which we do not do. Upon visual inspection, we do our best to spot any before they are packaged and leave the facility. However, that is a minor problem and can be filled with bondo, spot putty, and primer (if small). If a body shop cannot repair an air bubble, I would honestly question their capabilities and look elsewhere. I can assure you no company offering composite parts REAL or REPLICA, will garuantee their parts to be air bubble-free. These are not plastic-injection molded parts. |

Carbon spats
Hey man,
I recently bought a set of carbon SS-line rear spats from AEROJACKET. LOVE THEM, but thinking of selling them and going different on the rear. If you are interested I can get you some pics and pricing. Quality is TOP NOTCH. And I'm super OCD about my stuff. 10 40th z and it has 6k miles and stays covered in garage. Let me know if I can help. The parts are still wrapped in bubble wrap in the box. Quote:

As far as the fit; the two spats didn't quite look the same on the ends, both front and back. One was sanded too much on the tapered end, so the shape didn't match the 2nd one. The other one was much thicker where it wrapped inside the finder-well which caused a big gap in the fit against the bumper. The tech could have addressed all these issues with more labor, but as it turns out, the tech (or 2 or 3) they put on this job wasn't worth a damn. This is why I'd like to get a better product, so I don't have to trust a person to "make it right", and pay through the nose for it.
