Should I remove the clear bra from the hood?
I heard from someone that they have a clear bra like mine which covers about the front 1/3 of the hood, and that over time contaminants accumulated at the edge of the bra, to where when he took it off he had a permanent line on his hood.
Is it worth the risk to keep mine on or should I remove it and just leave the rest of the bra on? |

I saw this on an 09 black 370z and it looked chipped up and faded where as the part not wrapped looked better. Not sure if the front was just dirty or not but it looked obvious that there was a transition.

i installed clearbra on my z and i hated that line on the hood and fender. i paid like $200 for the precut, installed it myself, but removed it only a day or so later. |

If you were local to me, I would recommend this friend of mine who would install clear bra on almost any hood with folded edges; for partial coverage, there would be only one seam and for full coverage, zero seam. He is also capable of cutting the film on the car without cutting into the paint, so, in your case, he would trim the part that has lifted.
See if you could find a custom installer, not one that uses a pre-cut section/kit. |

I would say leave it on. I have had these in the past and if you take care of them they do a great job and you can barely tell its there. it's nice to have the protection on our soft paint IMO. Wish I had one, if and when I respray I will get one.

the "permanent" line will come off with some work. either some light buffing with a rubbing compound or a buff with a random orbital and some polishing paste/liquid. unless you were driving in a gravel storm and all the gravel ****** up your hood where the clearbra didnt cover

If you have dirt collected at the edges take a qtip and some rubbing alcohol and try to work the dirt off the edges. But if that doesn't work it could be too dirty, if that's the case I recommend taking it off and doing the whole hood. Our cars are low, so it won't be hard for rocks to chip the top portion of our hoods as well as the fender. Clear bra is the way to go, it'll provide protection and eliminate the never ending swirl marks.
