Default Long Throw Shifter

I decided to try something different. Installed a long-throw shifter. Bought a white delryn shift knob (amazon) and a 4 inch rod extender (TWM performance). Removed the stock shift knob (without damaging) and installed the knob and extender. My reasoning is this: when I track the car I have to move/drop my right hand less and the shifts are more decisive. I have trouble sometimes with a missed shift using a short throw in my Z. The feel was rather vague when trying to shift up/down in a competition scenario. I like the change for now. The long throws are smooth and give the 6MT a different kind of feel. The white knob is easily noticeable in your peripheral vision when you reach for it.

I'm sure this is not for everyone.

In researching these types of shifters, I looked at the WRC drivers and their sequential or otherwise shift knobs. They are pretty close to the same level as the steering wheel. A quick to grab and shift, quite logical for a race car. Economies of motion, etc. I'm happy with my choice.

I did not see any posts out there with a write-up like this so I thought I would contribute one.
