Default 370Z power failure

My 2012 370Z roadster died today. My baby is experiencing a general power failure except for the brake lights. The windows also nudge down, as they usually do, when the door is opened, but that's it. Both key remotes won't open, lock or unlock the doors. I had to use the actual key to get in. The interior lights don't come on when the door is opened, and all indicators in the instrument panel are off. And of course the car won't start.

I checked the battery and it is fully charged. I had a problem with the remote not opening the door a couple of times this summer. Then suddenly it worked on its own. Sounds like a main fuse or relay or something like that but I have no clue. I should also mention that I always close both windows when I lock the car up for the night... without failure. Two or three times I found both windows opened the next day. Creepy.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and can offer me some advice on how I can fix it? I would sure appreciate help with this. Thanks.

I am getting concerned because the remote did not seem to work for the very first time yesterday. The locks would unlock but the car would not start. A few tries later, it worked. Hope I do not lose all power.

Check the pos terminal connector at the battery.

Sound like you're loosing all power to the point that the windows will roll down for safety.

Look to make sure the negative side of the battery or cable is properly making ground.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Make sure your batteries in your remote are good. (If I am reading this right.) You can also plug the remote in without the key and see if it will start then. (lower left of the steering wheel.)

The battery cables are both tight. As I mentioned, the brake lights still work and the windows drop slightly when the door is opened. There are no interior lights or any other sign of power inside the car. Also, both remotes don't work.

Default Got it running again

If there's one thing I know, it's computers. Sometimes they lock up or freeze. Could be static electricity or something else that caused a corrupt preferences file or something, who knows. The way to get any computer back on-line is to re-boot. This usually reloads the factory default parameters. So I decided to undo the positive battery cable - effectively cutting off the power to the on-board computer - then re-connected the cable. This in effect caused a re-boot. Well, I'm happy to report everything came back on-line. Power was restored and all the electrical systems are working... and the car started up fine. God bless the computer age. I sure do miss those Ford flatheads.

Took the Z to my dealership today and explained what had happened. They never heard of this happening before. So I guess that's that. However, the sales guy that sold me the Z pointd out that if I had the intellikey inside my pants pocket, I could accidentaly depress the unlock button for a couple of seconds, which would drop both windows. I'm sure that's what happened. And he gave me a free car wash to boot.
