Default noise when coming to a stop

Ocassionally when coming to an almost stop in "D" mode. I can feel a thud under the floorpan somewhere. Its more of a sensation than a sound, as if someone tapped the floorpan with a rubber mallet, but faintly.

I think this also occured initially when I put the car in "N" as it was edging to a stop. But I have not been doing this anymore. Broke it already?

Probably the xmission shifting into first gear and/or the torque converter unlocking.

I agree I here and feel the 2-1 shift in my 7AT and as far as I know it's normal.

Is there anyways to see if that thud is occuring when it is indeed shifting from 2 to 1? Like I said it occurs at almost a stop. The only way I can tell what gear the car is in D mode is if I press one of the paddle shifters.

it's for sure the 2-1 shift.

its a mean set of gears plus the tq converted letting go will do it with that.

sidenote: i do not suggest manually shifting the 7AT into 1st. not really the best thing for it.

Does it not do it if you switch it over to manual mode while you are in second gear coming to a stop? When you switch it over I think it should display the gear (instead of a 'D'). In 2nd gear it should display a 2, and then a 1 when it downshifts for you automatically.

Thanks, yes. Ive done many things but never manually shifted into 1st geat, Infact I dont ever recalling every rolling into first gear when I used to drive manual cars either, just to take off I did however.

The only thing I did used to do was put it into N when it was slightly rolling to a stop, folks told me not to, so I stopped a while back.

It downshifts into 1st at about the same point whether in A or M. Leave it in M and see if the thump corresponds to the dash indicator.
