I'm asking this question to anyone who has experienced a csc failure. When it failed, did it show warning signs that is was going to fail in the near future?

Q about CSC failure
I'm asking this question to anyone who has experienced a csc failure. When it failed, did it show warning signs that is was going to fail in the near future? Or did it fail suddenly and unexpectedly. Basically I'm trying to figure out if I will have warning to upgrade my csc before it actually fails.

I have not had mine fail in my 370 yet *fingers crossed* but when it failed in the "07"350z the pedal went to the floor on the highway cruising at 75mph (winter night around 40 degrees).. NO WARNING.

You will get a little one if it is like normal. Not much time to do much. Keep an eye on the clutch fluid level. If any goes missing start looking. With the older cars I would just drive home without the clutch if the car would crank in gear. Sometimes I could get it to engage one time and that is all I needed.

I've gone through 3 of them, very little warning, at best, if your worried about it just get it done. It always goes at the least opportune time. Stock you might be good for 100k, or it could be 5k...

I'm a newb to the 370z. Is the CSC the clutch master cylinder?
What goes wrong with it? Does it just leak and then air gets into the system, or a different type of failure? If the former, sometimes you can pump the clutch a bunch(15-20 times) to regain preassure to get a few more shifts. I've did this on two prior cars to get the car to the shop when the clutch master cylinder died. Last edited by 0101; 09-03-2014 at 08:12 AM. |

Nerve-racking on the onset. Strangely soft on the engagement and you never think about it. After a few minutes and by that time I was on the freeway, it drops to the floor and it ruined every bit of concentration I had.

the rubber seals degrade and gunk up the system. it finally bursts which is the sudden pedal to floor feeling. mine acted funny the day before. |
