Default Jump Starter as OBDII Memory Saver?

I'm about to do a cai install and clean out the TBs while I'm at it. Obviously I'm going to remove the negative battery before unplugging sensors...

So my question is can we use a jump starter inside attached to OBDII port to retain all ECU/radio settings just like any other car? I plan on doing a reset via the pedal procedure once finished - I just don't wanna be bothered with the window reset and radio settings.

Kind of a dumb question, I know, but this is my first time wrenching on a Z... bought it used and it's just out of warranty at this point, so trying to be cautious as possible

I would be worried about accidentally giving power to the system when you have the TB disconnected if thats how you're going to clean it. I say disconnect the battery and reset your presets and clock. Maybe the automatic windows but thats cake to reset too. Play it safe in my opinion.

You will probably want to do a relearn session anyways for the computer to get used to the cai so definitely disconnect for that.

So am I wrong in assuming that with a battery pack connected to OBDII port and the negative battery cable disconnected that the engine sensors will not have juice? I always thought the memory saver to the OBDII just supplied power to the ECU.

I am talking about using a cable like this to hook up a portable jump starter to the OBDII port. Have done it for years with my Hondas...

This is not a Honda...

Just do the resets. It's easy and takes 5 minutes anyway
