Default injector life

Are these pretty sound OEM injectors. no problems with ethanol or heat? I am almost at 60k and plan on keeping the Z for at least 8 yrs. My last 300zx started having injector problems like increase ohms and leaks around 120k. just thinking for future. Anybody have over 100k mileage yet. Thanks

I'm pretty sure OEM injectors are not compatible with ethanol what so ever.

If you mean the 10% or so added at the pump -- yes.

If you mean E85 -- you need to make changes to the whole system to use it, I believe.

At the 8 yr mark or 120k miles, its a good idea to pull the injectors and get 'em cleaned/flow tested- make sure they're still working properly. Also, the "injector insulators" will probably be rock hard and leaking so be ready to replace those (six).
Change these out @ the 8 year mark...the O-rings will probably be bad...
top fuel injector o-ring = 16618-8J000
bottom fuel injector o-ring = 16618-EA000

I've had a few VQ nissans come through my shop in the last couple years, all with over 100k on them, all with hard to detect misfires, all came back to injectors gone bad. Trend? Eh, maybe.

I started smelling gas in my AC vents and under hood. I thought it might have been the Fuel pressure regulater, or line and ended up being 2 injector O-rings I have 75K miles. I had them replace all of them. It was covered under warranty. What would cause them to fail like that? I have been getting gas with 10% ethanol by my house the past few months

They just deteriorate...maybe sum Viton ones would last longer...

I did a little looking and according to Ethanol Producers Magazine, "... nonmetallic materials like reinforced fiberglass, Buna-N, Neoprene rubber, polypropylene, nitrile rubber, Viton and Teflon meeting acceptable usage standards with E85."

Some of those materials are not really appropriate for use in this application, (eg, Teflon and polypropylene tend to cold-flow). L33T Z34's recommendation for Viton sounds like a good one. I saw some reports that BMW had problems with Buna-N o-rings.

Kalrez scores high on EtOh, gasoline, and high-temp scales but I don't know if the other properties would be appropriate for use on injectors.
