Default Dry sump oil systems

Hello Groovers.

I live in a pretty 'eff'ed' up climate very hot and humid.

We all talk about our cars oil running hot all the time etc, and we go to great lengths to talk and buy and install oil coolers.

I am looking at getting an oil cooler - but I couldn't go past the idea of having a look at dry sump oil systems.

GTM do one for our cars - link below

GTM Motorsports*::*ENGINE INTERNALS*::*Dry Sump Oiling System*::*VQ37HR/VHR DRY SUMP OILING SYSTEM

Applications for this although costly - benefits are quite numerous. Tracking the car and hot climates will always add up to high oil temperatures.

I think it would be up to the individual if she/he go done that route for such a conversion.

Thoughts on such a conversion?

Cheers.

I've survived this long - waiting wouldn't really hurt I think.

But seriously - would people actually get on board with this for a group buy if this became available?

Have you seen GTM's current group buy?
And not many people are going, "Yes, $6000, plus god knows how much to install for 15hp, and a bit extra cooling... Great return on investment..." You're going to be in a boat of very few.

Now take out the people not willing to wait for GTM, you're in a boat of one.
But sail on brother, I'd love to see a dry sump in a 370.

Its made by Dailey Engineering. You can find it on their own website here: VQ-37

Dailey makes a fine product. While I have not used it on a VQ application, I have used it on a Viper V10 and it was top notch. They are unfortunately on the extreme end of pricing. Keep in mind the additional components required (oil tank, expensive large AN plumbing).

If you like to look at good looking pictures of product for our car, GTM is the place to go.

If you expect to actually get a part from them , good luck !

In their defense, they are making 120+ turbo kits. F.I made like 15ish. Difference is one, communicates, the other, only if you call them and harass them for information.

Something like this would just be an order and ship away. They delivered on my car... A month late. Having a drysump would be awesome, idk about $6,000 awesome. SC guys are screwed though, except me

There is already one Dailey Engineering kit in Australia (Tasmania) and in theory the car will come out for Bathurst ProdSports event at Easter.

The base cost is $6K (current exchange rate is 1:0.89, so landed cost will be A$6750, plus 10% GST and 10% tax, plus freight plus another $1000 for fittings, hoses, pulleys and a tank, UNLESS you fabricate one yourself.

Figure A$9K fitted and then you need to find a space to put the tank - race cars usually have it in the passenger foot-well or in the hatch area ....

Not worth it for a road car.

I travel regularly into the Mildura area in Vic in summer (42DegC plus is pretty usual) and have a 25-row cooler and sump spacer so the engine has 6-litres of oil and don't really oil-cooler issues.

Had "orders" for 120, the list of people that paid looks like about 10, including the G37 guys (doubled the amount of 370 guys)

And it isn't the first time GTM has taken forever. Last I checked the twin SC car they worked on before yours took about a year and wasn't completed.
