note a whole lot in terms of performance. sliiiight sound. but why not just get a real aftermarket exhaust if you're in the market for a nismo

The oem Nismo one is weak! This is personal preference and taste. But with all the makes and models out (exhausts) the last one on the list is Nismo in my book.

As everyone else has said, if you are going to make the swap go completely aftermarket. Fast Intentions seems to be the most popular

Any specific reason why you are considering the Nismo exhaust? If it is free it is better than stock. Also if free, I'd sell it and then get aftermarket.

If you think the 370Z Nismo exhaust is similar to the 350Z Nismo CBE in terms of sound and performance, you are sadly mistaken. I considered getting the Nismo for my 370Z because I love the one on my 350Z, but after hearing sound clips, it just doesn't compare.

I believe 4 WHOLE WHP, sooooo... 4WHP isn't going to really affect your MPG, and it's a HAIR louder.

I have the Stock nismo exhaust on my 370Z. and trust me if your looking for an exhaust don't go with the nismo, there is barely any gain from it. I had a custom Xpipe and resonator delete mid pipe with the Nismo muffler, and it literally didn't help at all. I do like how deep the nismo muffler is compared to the non nismo one. the tips are much Larger!! and the Nismo muffler has a better flow pattern through it than the non Nismo one. If your looking to stay "stock like" then go for it, its your best choice. but if your looking for exhaust. go aftermarket.
The only reason I went with it, is because of the exhaust combo I am looking to try for HP/TQ gains, with AAM mid pipe, and Z1 400hp package. with the nismo muffler it will still sound somewhat stock, look stock, but be the complete opposite. its all about what you want out of the car.

If someone is giving away Nismo exhaust sans gratis, I might consider installing it. Otherwise like everyone else has said, buy an aftermarket exhaust system. Sometimes you can pick them up used for less than half the original cost. I got mine used for $400. Original cost was like CDN$2000.

We found in dyno testing that the NISMO factory exhaust made 4-6 whp over the stock system. The aftermarket NISMO exhaust is good for around 8-10 whp from what I recall. You will definitely see better gains going with a legit aftermarket exhaust.
