Has anybody fitted the large 25 row Stillen oil cooler, just for everyday use with the usual weekend blast outs. Can get really warm oil temps & smell when throttling over longer periods

I do not understand your question about the smell....I sure hope you don't taste it too....just kidding. I do have the 25 row no issues so far the best mod if you drive hard with your Z!

I have the 25 row cooler. It works well, but after taking to the track I can tell that I wish I had got the 34 row.
> First track event (NO OIL COOLER): Oil temperature reached 260F / engine cut off several times > Second track event (25 ROW OIL COOLER) Oil temperature reached 235F / no issues with engine I would like to have seen lower temperatures. I'm considering exchanging the cooler core for a 34 row. I'm hoping to stay around 220F. Still, it is a great buy for spirited street driving. |

I think the 25 row is a perfect size for everyday use and spirited driving unless you also track then I would say go 34 row.
I have the 25 row and not gone past 215 with hard driving and stay at about 190 with normal shifting (7AT always on manual mode). This is a must have Mod

I have the stock cooler and a vented hood as far forward as possible. I cannot break 218f (yet) and normally sit around 190f. Getting the under hoods temps down in my book can help just as much as a cooler. Probably why some that have done the CSF radiator saw a big drop in oil temps also. Just food for thought.
O and even sitting in hot traffic the oil temps don't rise. The vent in my hood though looks like a steam pot blasting out air. With the car off sitting still with my head over the vent feels like a fan blowing hot air in my face.

I run the GTM 34 Row Oil Cooler for DD and ocassionally go Drag Racing (very rare). Its a Great Upgrade to our Z's and can't complain oil stays on 190-200 and when I spirit drive it reaches 215F. But understand though the reason why I went with 34 Row is because I live in Texas the weathere here even during "winter" its still hot lmao

Interesting point regarding the CFS radiator upgrade. I noticed one day this past summer, I was out at night, and I am not a real A/C person, like the windows down most of the time. But I was driving for awhile and keeping an eye on the oil temps,(no oil cooler yet) oil temp was around 220, flipped the A/C on because it was getting hot in the car,(you know how the car loves to toast your feet) and after awhile the oil temps went down from the radiator fans running when the A/C is on. oil temp went down to 200. Since the radiator has a direct function in removing engine heat it has the same effect on the oil temperature, its all about removing BTU's.
Going with the radiator upgrade is a cleaner way and than you could always up grade to and oil cooler if needed, But since I already bought an oil cooler and not installed at that time, its a moot point. I installed a 25 row Z-1 oil cooler, the reason I went with Z-1 was the bigger oil lines, less pressure drop. |

Based on what I've read about the Z, this is a serious issue. I've only had my Z for few weeks. I was doing some 'spirited' driving in the twists and the oil temp climbed quickly.
Never went into 'limp mode' but, I can see where it easily could've had I continued. I just ordered the 25 row GTM cooler. Heck, even Nissan must've known this was a problem…the Z now comes with a factory cooler.
