Damn, that's a first... Sorry brother... Maybe ask the racing guys to see if they've pulled theirs out?
Are you SURE it's the PS pump?

Im not a professional tech by any means, but depending on how bad youre leaking it could just be something simple as the hose which would be alot cheaper and an easier fix then the whole thing. just my

This. Or an O-ring somewhere in the system. I had a leaky pump on my Sti that turned out to be a failing clamp on one of the lines allowing fluid to seep out.

I had a shop look at it and he said the leak is coming from the actual pump itself not the hose. I was in an accident with the car 3 years ago and had a lot of trouble getting the car to stop chewing up serpentine bekts so im thinking the pump may have been on a little off causing it to wear the seal down?? Just guessing tho

Ok, I'm confused. Other than the cap, the inlet and the outlet, where else can a ps pump leak?

I agree with Chuck. PS pumps are pretty simple things. I don't know anything about the reliablilty of the shop you used, or their trustworthyness, but get under there and take a look at it yourself. If the leak location isn't obvious, clean the area up, top off the pump res, and have someone start the car (while the tires are safely blocked, of course), and turn the wheel lock to lock. The leak location should make itself known....
If you do end up needing a new pump, search online. There are so many parts sites online, that I would find it very hard to believe you'll need to spend anywhere near what Nissan is asking. I'm surprised at your $700 quote! Last edited by olddudesrule; 07-02-2013 at 06:35 PM. |

Well I did what u guys said and the leak is coming from the pump right behind the big pully for the serpentine belt. Its a very small leak. Its prolly been leaking since my accident in 2010. So my question is in ur opinion should I just live with the little leak and just get under the car once a month and clean it up or should I spend the money to replace it?
Cheepest I found is a rebuilt one fir 250 plus 100 to install. Im installing my new aluminum under shroud thats how I noticed the leak in the 1st place. |

If it was me??? I would spend the money and replace it and not keep worrying to keep adding ps fluid, And constantly cleaning it.
Like who wants live with a leak? But thats entirely up to you. |

For $350, get it swapped out.

Based on the title, I thought it was something more serious...

The serious part is its extremely hard to find a rebuilt or used one out there and the new ones are over $700. I have literally spent hours on the phone trying to find one and I have found only 1 used one fir $250. One other company wanted me to ship mine to them to rebuild but thats a pain in the ***. I baught the one for 250 |
