Aftermarket Oil Cooler Ruining A/C Temps?
Done a bit of searching but to no avail. Was interested in getting an oil cooler for the Z due to some autoX and track days in the future. I remember my brother telling me on his 08 Z a while back that after he installed his, while he drove on the interstate 70 mph+, he noticed his A/C temps increased significantly to where it wouldn't blow cold air any longer, only room temp/lightly cool air. I imagine this was because the oil cooler was right behind the bumper taking all of the cold air.
Has anyone had similar issues on their 370 or is this a non-issue with our cars? If it matters, I would probably only do a 19 row. Thanks for the help. -Chris

I have a 34 row cooler, so it blocks almost half of my radiator. My Coolant temps have never dropped even 1 dot due to it. It stays just to the left of center.
His problem sounds more like a fault or leak in his AC system more than not getting enough air passing through.

I have an intercooler in front of my radiator and get cold air all day long.
When you mount your oil cooler it will take up about 20% of the area if placed directly in front of the radiator, but many can be mounted slightly to the side.

Roger that. His Z has been long gone so there's no diagnosing that but thanks a bunch for the quick responses guys.

19 row and no problems ac problems, other that I should have gone bigger, it works great, but I still do not like where the temps are at with hard driving, gonig to step up a size here in the near future.

Installed 25 row yesterday, ran it hard last night w/ A/C, no difference in cooling system performance. I did notice a 15-20 degree drop in oil temps though!...

I only had my AC blow hot air when I was stuck in traffic and it was 110 outside. A few minutes at steady speed and it blows cold again. Sucks ball sack when it happens though. Nissan told me it was normal and to preserve the AC unit. Great.... just blow that hot *** air in the cabin when I was expecting cold.

i wonder why cars in hotter climates don't get bigger a/c systems. I never even used a/c til i moved to socal tho.

I'm sure it's all about costs, period. Would be an impractical thing for manufacturers to try to do in the first place. I would imagine they could make a larger capacity system an option, but not being intimately familiar with auto A/C systems, I don't even know if that's practical.
