I always use the OEM coolant. I just got a gallon of the Blue stuff last week for $20 at the dealer. It's already pre-mixed.

Just add a compatible coolant. There are different types so you need one specific for the Z. Any idea why its low on coolant? It had to leak out somewhere as its a closed system.

if it's only a little you need to add, just add distilled water.

Or do what I do, drain it and add water wetter, it's pink on color you mix it your self, and it makes your motor run cooler, of you live in the north where temps drop below the freezing mark. You have to drain it and add coolant/antifreeze, water wetter will freeze on you, hope it helped....

If the level is not very low, wait until you get your next service and they may top it off for free.

There is probably a compatible 3rd-party antifreeze available, but I'd stick with the Nissan stuff, especially if you are just topping off. A gallon is not that expensive, even at dealer prices, so why take a chance? And a gallon should last a looonnnggg time - if you have to top off more than once a year or three, something's wrong.

Thanks guys, my is a bit higher then the low mark, I bought this Prestone coolant from auto advance and its orange so I was hesitant to top it up. I might take your advice and buy a gallon from the dealer. I never cheap out to maintain my car so its no problem. I was just concerned about the different color coolant. Thanks again guys !!

yah, the dealer has blue and green. i dont know on your car, but in my Z the coolant color is blue which is that 7yrs cycle one.

my G uses green which is like a standard 3-4yr cycle. make sure you get the same color you see in your car.

I always prefer to use the OEM blend to prevent any issues with potentially clogging parts of the cooling system such as the heater core.

Thanks,
