You should be able to rev it past 4-5k in 1st gear holding in the clutch.

From Owners Manual: When racing the engine up to 4,500 rpm or more under no load condition, the engine will enter the fuel cut mode

Putting it in gear deactivates it.
GaleForce and Z-Girl 12 like this.

7AT's won't be able to do this though as we have no clutch to separate the motor from tranny.

Does this happen all the time or only when it is cold? Also, does it happen when your coolant temp is Cold or at normal operating temp?

I'm just wondering if there is a feature in our cars that prevent over-revving when the engine is cold? I know in the Mazda Rx8, there is a safety feature that makes sure you can't rev it high when the engine hasn't reached operating temperature.

Word of caution: You shouldn't be revving your engine and holding your revs (for a sustained period) close to the redline when it is cold or in N or when there is no load (clutch in).
