Default SRM question

i have done a search and cannot find what i am looking for........

When im in any gear and i press the clutch then bring the shifter out of gear into nutural, the rpm just come down as if its going back to idle but just blimp slightly from 1500-2500. is this normal? and no im not accidentally going near other gears for the SRM to think its going into other gears...

Probably not the answer you want to hear but I think it's just very sensitive/touchy. I was having issues with blipping the throttle going from 4 to 5, thinking that i was possibly downshifting into 3rd. That ended up just being a sloppy shift (I mean I HAVE only been driving stick for less than 2 weeks now). I cleaned it up a whole lot but it still happens every so often. I also saw that if I put it in neutral and play with the shifter from side to side it obviously tends to blip the throttle as well.

i no for a fact its not me being sloppy with the shifter because i tried it many times coming to a red light going 70km in 5th, push the clutch in, gently move the shifter to nutural position without coming near any of the other gears and it just blimps throttle. i would notice if i come close to 4th, 3rd, second while going to nutural because i would see my rpm match that gear but what im talking about is it just blimps once 1500-2500 and it drops normally

It's normal and annoying sometimes. workaround: push and hold the shifter to the right(between 6th-5th gear) and keep it there until you see/feel the rpms start dropping, might take a 2-3 seconds.

Weird i dont have that happening, but i do remember that if u have the syncro rev ON it does blimp ur throttle to about 2.5k rpm when it thinks that ur shifting down, to think of it maybe u have a loose wire at that button near shifter or button is defective causing it to turn on/off when u move shifter so go ahead and check that out

im pretty sure we all have the slight blip he is talking about. from what i remember it is a safety thing the engine does to protect itself. not sure why though

and yes if you get close to the gear without going into it the rev match will engage.

It revs because its anticipating a possible down shift. It'll rev up even more if you kick it to the left. Its normal and part of the technology. You can always turn it off if its distracting

i dont think you are talking about the same blip.

"It'll rev up even more if you kick it to the left." what? as in you move the stick to the left or right while in neutral?

it will only blip like that if you move up or down into a gear. sliding the stick left and right does nothing until you make an up or down motion into the gear. (even a SLIGHT up or down motion will engage the blip)

we are talking about the blip that happens when you let the rpms fall on their own with hands off the shifter.

yeah im with the other guy( nissanguy23) its anticipating a downshift and you are putting it in neutral for some reason instead of just going right to the lower gear .

This happens on the upshift as well. If you upshift and not release the clutch pedal for awhile, the revs will drop and kick back up. What's annoying is that sometimes it doesn't maintain the revs quickly enough resulting in a rough engagement. I think it's worse with the A/C running.

then why does it do it if you are sitting still? im in the parking lot, car in neutral, hand off shifter. rev engine to say 3k let off throttle and there is a slight blip around the 1.5k rpm range when the rpms come back down.

regardless why it does it there isnt anything wrong. its just programming Nissan did.
