Oil Pressure Thoughts
I wanted to get some thoughts on oil pressure on our cars. Hoping that a shop will shine in.
Since installing my oil pressure gauge I've noticed that on a cold startup the pressure is about 110 at first but quickly starts to decline after the ideal comes down. Now I always try to get my oil temps up before leaving or at least see them start to climb on the gauge at around 140/150F. At which at this point the oil pressure is at about 45. I know this is more than fine and is normal. Now this morning the oil temp was about 150F so I left to work and I always try to keep the revs down low at around 2K but that can be hard at times when traffic is involved but when I would get at 2.5/3K RPMS the oil pressure was hitting at 125/130 with the temps at 150F. But at crusing speeds (2K) the pressure was fine at 75/85. Once the oil temps hit 180 you can't get the pressure over 95 even at WOT. So what are your thoughts on the oil pressure being this high when not up to par on temp (125/130psi at 150F temps)? Just seems a little high. Obviously I feel the pressure has always done this even before the gauge being installed. It has to be normal. And if so this can be some perspective for you guys. Yes I have a oil cooler also. That's why I'm asking. It's always been fine with no leaks.

I think your pressures are fine considering you only are getting into the throttle when you need to. If you keep the revs low while you are warming the car up it's not going to hurt if you have to go to 4k or so getting up to speed in traffic.
It'd be different if you were just going WOT right out of your driveway, which I know is how a lot of people tend to drive.
