Default Slight Vibration at High Rpm

I have noticed here recently that when reaching high rpm's (roughly 5,500 to redline) my car has a slight vibration going on. It seems like it is coming from the front of the car. It even causes a slight rattle in the upper dash when I reach above 6,500 rpm's. It does not seem crazy bad like the car is coming apart but it has raised some concerns for me. The best way for me to describe the vibration is it feels like the car has solid motor mounts. Is this normal or should I have this checked out.

Sounds like you're noticing NVH which is one of the main complaints about the car in most publications.

hey Rooskey. Once I reached 1200 miles and started revving the car up I noticed this same vibration right away. There are a couple of posts on it. From what everyone says it is normal. You should be good given you don't have any other odd sounds with it.
onzedge likes this.

its probably the shifter. i fixed this the other day after mine got real bad. pop the shifter cover off, unbolt the center console, slide it back, unbolt the metal plate holding the rubber boot on, rebolt it back in place, pull the rubber shift boot up slightly over the leather boot ring and zip tie it up in place. Noise is gone now!

I noticed this in my 2004 G35 coupe. At higher RPMS it was harsh!

I wonder how the 370z is above 5000 rpm. I have 700 miles on the clock and will let you know once I rev passed 3500 rpm

I didnt have the shifter rattle at first, but it came on strong, coincidentally at the same time I put the FI exhaust on my car (shrug). But its fixed now, please, if you have shifter vibrations above 5k rpms, do yourself a favor and follow my quick guide to fixing the problem.

Were you having an audible sound or just felt a vibration with your hand on the shifter?

my vibration is very much in the shifter starting 5-5.5 in both 2/3rd...also, sometimes my left foot starts to tingle...supposedly, my mech test dove it and didn't notice a prob. however, no miles were logged onto my chk out sheet...

I like my vibrating shifter. Makes my hand go numb and I can hook myself up with "The Stranger"... Wait, NVM.

The car does get rough after 5k rpm. Much better with an exhaust, but your shifter will still vibrate, you can feel it in the pedals, the steering wheel, I happen to like the feedback.
