Arguments for solid vs poly?

Going to be ordering some diff and subframe bushings for the Z. Does anyone have any compelling arguments to convince me NOT to go with solid rear end bushings? Leaning

Default Arguments for solid vs poly?

Going to be ordering some diff and subframe bushings for the Z. Does anyone have any compelling arguments to convince me NOT to go with solid rear end bushings? Leaning towards full solid rear end but I’ll take input from those who have already done this!

My car is already fairly loud (test pipes, catback, bypass valve) so I wasn’t too worried about additional noise into the car. but then again, I do drive it on the street a few thousand miles per year.

I was considering doing the subframe collars but my Z will be garaged for a few months so I’m thinking of just going full bushings instead. Will give me something to do over the winter.

The subframe full bushing replacement is exhausting but worth it. I did the whiteline diff bushings and Voodoo 13 solid subframe bushings at the same time. I have not noticed any real increase in NVH from the subframe bushings but I can imagine there will be some whining if both are solid.

Some how my Z1 diff cover has survived 1.6 second 60ft launches on 28x10 bias ply slicks. Thinking about swapping out to solid with a diff brace for next year though.

Good to know the poly mounts can handle that. Why are you considering switching to solid though?

I won’t be doing anything that severe with my car. Autox launches and future track days shouldnt torture the car like launches with slicks lol

I don't want to test my luck any further with the single stud cover, if i get the Z1 brace that's solid I may as well remove the movement the poly bushings will have. That's my train of thought anyway

I went with the Z1 poly diff bushings. The reason: For the rear diff bushing, if you mess up the install and it doesn't seat right, you're in trouble. I knew with the poly bushing that if the install went poorly, I could simply cut it out with a saw-z-all and start over. The poly bushings have worked fine for me ... but I don't launch the car and put undue stress on the diff.

I too have poly differential bushings, but they are whiteline.

I beat the **** out of my car when drifting it and it has held up fine. I did maybe 4-5 events before I added a GKtech diff brace to it. Haven't done anything for the subframe bushings yet though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Ordered some Z1 poly mounts instead. Sounds like the poly performs like 80% of the solid mounts and can take a beating. Should make the install easier as well.

I've installed 2 SPL and one poly diff bushings so far. The solid diff bushings were easier to install. You won't notice too much NVH difference with the diff bushing. I installed the SPL sub frame bushings. You have to drop the sub frame to do it. you will pick up a little more NVH with the sub frame bushings.

I have the Z1 poly diff bushings, modified Bellworks diff brace, and Nismo (SPL) solid subframe bushings. The only thing you will notice is when you jump off throttle real quick. It's solid so it will clunk a little bit because there is no movement in the subframe. Other than that, just like stock.

Clunk from the brace or solid sub bushings?

Subframe, It would normally rock back and forth and absorb the clunk. You just have to learn how to lift off the throttle and it won't do it. It makes you smoother.

Can’t be worse than the clunk I’ve got now during quick upshifts! Presumably due to my dead diff bushing.

Definitely going with solid subframe bushings. Still deciding in on if I want to put off the subframe bushings until the future or bite the bullet and drop the subframe now when I do the diff bushings and get it all done at once. Hmmmm

I have no clunk with everything being solid. I also have the Bell diff brace too.

Do it all at once. You have to pull the diff to pull the subframe.
