Need help with fuel pump relay location

Just need a hand in finding the fuel pump relay on the 370z. Found the IPDM diagram on Power, Ground & Circuit FSM (PG-114). Problem is I can't find the

Default Need help with fuel pump relay location

Just need a hand in finding the fuel pump relay on the 370z. Found the IPDM diagram on Power, Ground & Circuit FSM (PG-114). Problem is I can't find the reference for the PIN designations and their locations (ie. 48|10A, 49|10A). The 10A is easy - 10A fuse being used for the PIN. What's useful that I've found on the physical IPDM cover is a diagram of what's what (steering, airbags, A/C, doors etc). Can't remember if it mentioned fuel pump.

Also not sure where to look for the wiring diagrams on the FSM. Is there a FSM just for wiring diagrams? This would help a lot in pinpointing the fuel pump relay circuit from the IPDM all the way to the fuel pump.

Main reason is I will be DIY'ing a killswitch for my Z off of the fuel pump relay circuit leading to the fuel pump.

Lots of old forum posts on this but all muddled up and links are expired on one of them that had all the wiring diagrams which ain't great.

Any helpful info will be much appreciated. Thanks fellow Z fam

Fuel Pump Relay is inside the IPDM.

ECM terminal 22 to IPDM terminal 77. This wire activates the fuel pump relay in the IPDM when the ECM commands it.

IPDM wire 13 to fuel pump module terminal 1 is the fuel pump power wire.

There are wiring diagrams towards the end of each FSM section that needs them. Towards the end of the ECS section is where you will find all the engine control wiring which includes this information. The PCS section has a more detailed IPDM diagram (more like halfway through the PDF) but doesn't include the ECM end of it.

You might find it easier to tap in at the ECM end since its already inside the cabin, if thats where you want your switch.

From what I've found it's an integral part of the IPDM as well so if it's blown you need an entire new IPDM or to get creative with employing a stand alone relay, which doesn't look easy.

Replace the OEM pump with a twin pump setup. Put your own cutoff relay in the wiring.

Its not a bad time to be thinking about kill switches. I dont know much about how the keyfob and security system works in these cars. But it seems somewhat clear that its been "cracked" to a degree. GTRs in the south have been getting stolen out of parking lots, 4 in the last month, seen driving away by witnesses. All that's left is a section of glass window that has been cut out. People are talking about either the "rolling code" is cracked now or they have figured out a way to do it by replacing the BCM and using their own key they bring with. Id say its a safe bet that the Z34 and R35 likely use the same security, so the Z might wind up pretty prone to being stolen just the same, particularly ones with expensive aftermarket work.

To add a well hidden fuel pump kill switch is a smart idea. It doesn't protect you from the vandalism that may ensue but it has a strong chance of at least keeping the car in place.

Your best and easiest bet is to place this switch by the wiring of the pump.

A simple switch in the ground side of the pump will leave the power side of the wiring undisturbed. Placing the splice in the engine bay area is double the work + have to snake those wires inside of the car.
The pump wiring is inside the car already and routing the wires from the pump area to the center console or other areas will be a lot easier.

Not a long reach to mount the switch on the rear tray behind the passenger seat where the pump resides neither and skip all that wire running.

Man I’m pulling my hair out right now trying to find this signal wire for the fuel pump relay. I pulled the black connector from ecm and went to de-pin the terminal 22 wire and there’s not a wire there to de-pin. It’s a blank spot. All the service manuals and phunk show it’s supposed to be there. Anybody have any ideas?

I just checked a couple different year service manuals and its in the same spot for each. Youve got to be looking at the wrong spot.

I checked all the service manuals also and that’s why I was confused. I found it though. I used a multi meter to check continuity at the IPDM wire for the fuel pump relay (red wire with silver stripes on it) and used the other lead to check each pin one by one. The spot on the black ECM connector is terminal 23. If anybody is doing the same job and wiring in a kill switch, if you find terminal 22 blank on the black connector (the one closest to the engine bay) then try terminal 23 with a multi meter on the continuity setting where you can hear the beep, with the IPDM terminal 77 wire. Should be the red wire with 2 silver marks every so often. Hope this helps.

23 is the empty one. I think you were looking at the pins from the wrong side of the connector. 22 and 23 are in mirrored positions, so looking at the connector from the opposite side it would appear as you've described. The FSM diagram of the pin locations is looking at the connector from the wire side, which I personally find counter-intuitive but I have gotten used to it over the years.
