Default 2016 motor in 2009 - No one seems to know.

I know this may have been asked many times but I have looked online and called about 5 different shops. I keep getting different answers. Im wanting to put a 2016 370z motor in my 2009 370z. I was told this will not work as the motors are not compatible and it is not just a plug and play motor. then I am told that yes they are the exact same. Can anyone with experience in this give me a definitive answer?

They are the same. if you're looking for a motor then the G37/Q50/Q70 motors will be usually way cheaper.

Same damn motor. Nothing changed. Ask them what is different. They won't have an answer.

Then these are the shops to stay away from. Anyone who's done this before will know and confirm that it works.

You will need to get a 2016 ECU but other than that it will work.

Wasn't there a capability issue with VVEL solenoid connectors between years? (Not that this is a deal breaker... I'm actually curious. Was trying to help a buddy out after he replaced his engine (gallery gasket) and he was getting VVEL CEL's, i figured it was because of this)

So much misinformation going around lol.

Engines are 100% identical in function between 2008 and 2021, only differences are different mount brackets in 2014+ for the updated headers, new gallery gaskets, different O2 sensors through the years and some valve changes. Any engine from an 08 G37 to 2021 370Z or Q70 will bolt right up, the same ECU will work but you'll most likely need your original harness on the engine.

They are identical, I swapped a 2016 into my 09 last year with no issues at all.
