Z1 Clutch/Flywheel/CSC Elim. Best option??
Hey guys! So I’m about at the point of replacing my clutch and was looking for input on whether the Z1 clutch, mid weight flywheel, and CSC elimination kit are the best out there.
She’s a 2017 Nismo with basic mods done to it and just put down 347whp and 280 torque on the dyno. I am looking at the mid weight flywheel to reduce some of that rev hang. It is a daily but does get driven hard every now and then and will see the track a few times in its life. Currently 56k miles. I would prefer to minimize the amount of times I do this level of in depth work which is why I am considering all 3 at once. Thanks in advance!! Last edited by mbetzel; 05-17-2022 at 06:47 PM. |

Get the Zspeed CMAK. The Z1 Elimination-Kit was less than impressive from what i heard.
Stick with a full face clutch as well since you're dailying it. I don't daily mine, and I still regret going 6 puck. |

it's really annoying to get going from a stop. The car shudders (naturally because there are six separate friction points slamming against the flywheel). Dont do it. That is a "race" setup for a reason. |

I'm convinced that the ZSpeed setup is the way to go. The CSC delete is simpler (less parts to fail and maintain), the flywheel is steel as opposed to aluminum (stronger, longer lasting), and you also have the option to have the assembly balanced together, although they just took that option off their website, so I am not sure about the balancing anymore.
Don't forget to swap out your master cylinder and fluids, the old CSC has contaminated the entire hydraulic system. Also, grab a rear main seal and some new flywheel bolts while you're at it! Maybe take a look at RJM Performance, they make a great clutch pedal replacement Last edited by Nomabond; 05-18-2022 at 10:05 AM. |

I am using the Z1 full face clutch and it is a nice upgrade and will handle plenty of power (I am TT). I also did the Z1 flywheel and I personally wish I had stuck with the stock dual mass flywheel as there is way more chatter now and for my purposes (TT, street driving only) I don't see much benefit.
For CSC I did the ZSpeed HDCSC and it has worked flawlessly.

The biggest advantage to going with the CMAK vs even Zspeed's own HDCSC is that the CMAK relocates the slave cylinder to outside of the gearbox. It's a $40 part replacement and minimal labor cost if it fails.

@OP, your best bet is just to call Joe at ZSpeed, tell him what you're doing with the car and he'll set you up with what you need. Also, the ZSpeed CMAK is far better than the Z1 kit as it will self adjust as the clutch wears. From what I've seen in posts from people with the Z1 kit, this is one of the biggest issues as the Z1 kit requires constant adjustment as the clutch wears.

My friend is looking to get a Z1. Maybe he should take a look at CMAK since he's serious about his build. We'll finish installing the suspension and bumpers from 4Wheelonline onto his truck this weekend so the new owner can pick it up and we can start his Nismo MT project.

Sounds like Zspeed is the way to go! I have a message in to talk to Joe, hopefully I get something figured out soon. Saw some debris in my fluid today so the slave cylinder must be on it’s inevitable way out. Thanks for the input!!
